F.E.A.R. (First Encounter Assault and Recon) is a first-person close-quarters combat game for the PC. The story begins when a paramilitary force infiltrates a multi-billion dollar aerospace compound, and the government responds by sending in Special Forces. The group loses contact with the government when an eerie signal interrupts radio communications--and when that interference subsides moments later, the team has been destroyed. That's where you come in. As part of a classified strike team created to deal with threats no one else can handle, your mission is simple: eliminate the intruders at any cost, determine the origin of the signal, and contain the potential crisis before it gets out of control. Sweet demo, man I think this game is going to be good, the AI is really good, this has to be the most atmospheric games iv ever played. There's a slow motion feature like that in max pain but much better. I'd say the GFX are on par with HL2 Here's some screens I took The water effects are good to, you actually create waves as you move in the water, thats the 1st time iv seen this in a game Here are 2 screens taken while using the slow motion feature - And it also has very good effects, take a look at the explosion - all in all a very good demo, just remember to have a spare pair of pants if you play it

The best aspect of the game HAS to be the slow-mo focus skill. Picture Matrix meets Doom3/HL2. I'm a sucker for eyecandy. I'm also a sucker for trying to scare myself. At first it didn't seem all that bad... there's a scene near a ladder that just about scared the crap out of me.
All in all not bad... but I'm not going to pick it up I don't think.

This demo, now that I got it... reminds me so much of HalfLife. The first one... Yeah, it looks prettier but that's about it... Unless you count the creepyness factor. Then I 'd say this game is on par with HL2, the level where Gordon Freeman finds himself in a zombie infsted village. Ravenholm.

F.E.A.R. is like doom 3, meets half-life 2, spiced up with the silent hill series. Well i should say an attempt to spice it up like the silent hill seires cause this was nowhere near as scary as those games. Its cool and all but its not the first time stuff like this has been done, max payne for example had some really twisted scenes that will stick with anyone who played it. As for that little girl in this game, its been done ;\ not in a first person shooter, but in other games (silent hill, etc etc)... And the water effects also, granted they are improved from past games, but you being able to cause waves isnt new, Morrowind had that effect with its water also, just wasnt as detailed.
In the end FEAR is just a buncha stuff from other games hashed into one game, which spices up a lil bit but it dosnt make it anything new, the only thing that could probably be considerd new and add a unique style of play is the jump / side and slide kicking that you can do in the game.
Now I might not buy it, but ill defently want to check out the whole singleplayer cause it was a bit fun, the AI was impressive to an extent, which made the game a lil bit more intresting, So im debating on getting it or not.
